Jason Wu is the latest designer tapped by Target to design a limited edition collection for the brand. Target tweeted five hints via @TargetStyle that Jason Wu was the next designer in line to collaborate with Target. Women’s Wear Daily confirmed the news this past Monday.
For those who live under a rock Jason Wu designed First Lady Michelle Obama’s dress for the 2009 Inaugural Ball. Since that opportunity Jason has become a household name in the fashion industry. Wu discussed his new venture with Target to Women’s Wear Daily,
“My collection for Target features clothes and accessories that are easily convertible from day to evening—sophisticated, feminine dresses, mix-and-match separates and playful accessories all with a bit of charm and dressed-up attitude. The exciting thing about this limited edition collection of affordable women’s wear and accessories is that it allows me to reach a wider audience and bring my designs to people who may not have been able to purchase them before. I’ve had an incredible experience partnering with Target, and I am looking forward to bringing these affordable designs to women across the country.”
Jason’s limited-edition collection will be available in Target stores and online February 5th through March 6th of 2012. Apparel prices will range from will range from $19.99 to $59.99 and $19.99 to $59.99 for handbags, scarves and accessories. Now that is my kind of deal! Jason’s line will likely be another successful venture for Target. Jason’s emphasis on tailoring and lady like silhouettes make me appreciate his designs. I am interested in seeing how the finished product will look. You can view the teaser video via YouTube here.
